Putnam Man, 56, Accused Of Threatening To Shoot Latinos PATTERSON, N.Y. -- A Patterson man has been arrested after allegedly making threats to shoot Latinos after getting irate over hearing a grocery store employee speaking in Spanish during a trip last Tuesday, according to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Upon hearing the employee, a woman who works at Putnam Lake Market, Wayne Rossi is accused of telling her, "“this is our country, we speak English here," adding that he “wants to shoot all Spanish speaking people." North Castle Library's Armonk Branch Closed For Generator Installation ARMONK, N.Y. -- The North Castle Public Library is receiving a generator for its main branch in Armonk, which it hopes will allow for it to stay open in the event of severe weather. Ironically, however, the library announced that it will need to close on Tuesday while the generator is being installed. Bedford Turkey Trot Kicks Off On Saturday BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The 12th-annual Bedford Turkey Trot, a mainstay race in Bedford Village, will be held on Saturday morning. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. on Court Road, which is in front of Bedford Village Elementary school. It will end at Bedford Village Memorial Park. The race is 3.1 miles, which means that it is a 5K. Registration is scheduled to take place at the park at 7:45 a.m., with a check-in deadline of 8:30 a.m. for all runners. This year's Turkey Trot reports having 475 entires.

Law-Enforcement Officers Pay Respects To Westchester Native Peter Convery MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Law-enforcement officials from far and wide gathered en masse in Mahopac on a blustery morning earlier this week to honor Putnam County Undersheriff Peter Convery at his funeral. Convery, 65, died last Nov. 15 from an apparent heart attack, the sheriff's office previously said. He was a Tarrytown native and graduate of Sleepy Hollow. Katonah-Lewisboro School Board OK's New Deal With Teachers' Union CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- The Katonah-Lewisboro school board voted unanimously on Thursday in favor of a new four-year agreement with the school district's teachers' union. The new deal with the Katonah-Lewisboro District Teachers Association is retroactive to July 1 and will expire on June 30, 2020.
