NY State Police Donate Over 1,300 Toys To Area Children For Christmas New York State Police in Troop K, with the help of local businesses and the United States Marine Corps, has amassed 1,329 toys for donation to the Dutchess County Toys for Tots chapter.  Between Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Dec. 18, members of the community dropped off new, unwrapped toys at Troop K headquarters in Salt Point for donation. Then, area members of the Marine Corps picked up the donated presents for distribution to children in the area.  All 18 police stations in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties participated in the Toys for Tots program.

The vehicle, a 2001 blue Hyundai Accent, was found on Wednesday, July 8, by state police in Dutchess County who were conducting a routine sonar training operations in the river near the Victor C. Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie, state police reported. Man Busted Patronizing Prostitute In Area, Police Say A john is facing criminal charges after allegedly soliciting a prostitute in the Hudson Valley. An investigation by New York State Police detectives in Wappingers, in conjunction with the Troop K - which includes Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties - determined that Accord resident Paul Vanleuven, 27, allegedly patronized a prostitute. Vanleuven was arrested last week and charged with third-degree patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor. After appearing in court, Vanleuven was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Fishkill Court on July 30.

State Police Troop Covering Westchester Names New Commander Capt. Richard Mazzone, a veteran law enforcement official, has earned the rank of Major with the New York State Police, making him the 35th Troop Commander of Troop K, which includes parts of Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties. Mazzone’s career began in 1995 as an officer with the Town of Saugerties Police Department, before he transferred to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and Ulster Police Department.
