Authorities are conducting an investigation into a bomb threat received by a business in Westchester that caused a brief road closure. The incident happened on Monday afternoon, Sept. 25 in Mount Vernon when a business on Gramatan Avenue received a bomb threat over a phone call, according to the city's Director of Communications Timothy Allen. The name of the business that was threatened was not released. 16-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized After Being Struck By Car In Westchester
A 16-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Westchester. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 23, when a 16-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car in Mount Vernon at the corner of Gramatan Avenue and East Grand Street, according to the city's Director of Communications Timothy Allen. The girl was then taken to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Allen said. No criminal charges were filed following the crash.

Former Fire Chief In Westchester Dies
Joseph Francis Cerrone, a former fire chief in Westchester and decorated Navy veteran, died at the age of 92. Born in Mount Vernon on Feb. 27, 1929, Cerrone attended Hamilton Elementary School and was graduated from Edison Technical and Vocational High School in 1949. He received an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Westchester Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Technology from Empire State College. Cerrone served two tours in the US Navy (1946-48 and 1950-52) and was awarded the World War II victory medal, Korean Service medal, and United Nations Korean Service medal. …

A wanted man in Westchester is facing new charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer attempting to apprehend him, authorities announced. A Westchester restaurant was destroyed by an overnight fire, though firefighters were able to contain it to one building before it spread to neighboring businesses. Bronx resident Dahjauntay Douglas, 22, was sentenced to 12 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to first-degree assault in July for his role in a shooting in Mount Vernon last year.
