Some former Hudson Valley high school basketball standouts are set to star at the NCAA Tournament and are eyeing a deep run into the Final Four. Ty Jerome, a four-time varsity letterer at Iona Prep, will take center stage playing in the backcourt of the top-seeded University of Virginia, while former Dobbs Ferry High School star Eric Paschall will take the court for the sixth-seeded Villanova Wildcats in the South region. Big East Program Cancels Basketball Celebration After Death Of Area Student
A sophomore college student from Fairfield County died in his dorm room at Providence College on Thursday night. Augustus Cardello of Westport was 19. Police have ruled out foul play and the Providence Police Department said the death does not appear suspicious, but no cause of death has been given, the Providence Journal reported. Cardello graduated from Staples High School in 2017.
