Vera Stein Werner, 92, Of Mamaroneck MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Vera Stein Werner, a resident of Larchmont and Mamaroneck for 60 years, died on Friday, July 24, at her home. She was 92. Werner was born on July 1, 1923, in Czechoslovakia, surviving the war after her family was sent to the Lodz Ghetto and she had been liberated from Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After the war, she emigrated to the U.S. via London, settling in Forest Hills. Rye Summer Basketball League Enjoys Growth RYE, N.Y. – The Rye Resurrection Basketball League has grown by two teams and 27 players this summer, the Rye City Review reports. There are now 75 registered players, up from 48 in 2014. The league was created last summer as a way to have local players from various schools play during their vacations.
