Suffern Police Department Announces Community Events SUFFERN, N.Y. — The Suffern Police Department announced several upcoming community events during May and June. On June 4, the Suffern Police Benevolent Association and Vincent Crotty Memorial Foundation will host their seventh annual BBQ-Wing Nite at the Mahwah Elks Lodge. All proceeds will go to the Crotty Foundation. Chief Clarke Osborn also announced that he was planning a "Coffee With The Chief" event, where local residents are welcome to discuss issues in a informal setting.

Hastings Celebrates The Season With Spring Thing HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The annual Spring Thing event will take place on Sunday, May 15, in Hastings-On-Hudson from noon to 5 p.m. Plenty of food and games are on the docket, with a cookout handled by the fire department. Besides the food, there will be a bouncy castle and a maker area with students from Hillside and Farragut Middle School and Hastings High School. Live music will run through the entire day, with Zed Woods, Josh Shapiro, Riverrun, Intuition and Deadgrass scheduled to perform. John Jay Soccer Club Supports Goals For Haiti LEWISBORO, N.Y. – John Jay Soccer Club in Lewisboro is once again supporting Goals For Haiti, a non-profit aimed at helping Haitian youth with education, health and development programs. Members of the club will be collecting gently used soccer equipment on Saturday, May 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Onatru 6 and from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fox Valley Upper Field. Items needed include cleats (from size 7 to 9), soccer balls (all sizes), goalie gloves, socks, shin guards, soccer shorts, uniforms and goalie apparel, among others. The suspect entered the store around 4 p.m., and loaded various items into his cart, including soda, energy drinks, soap and body wash, police said. He walked out without paying, according to police.
