Thieves Enter 7 Vehicles In Early Morning Break-In Spree In Hudson Valley
Thieves entered several unlocked cars in an early-morning larceny spree across several residential streets in Putnam County, police said.
The incidents happened in Mahopac between around 3:37 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, in the Lake Casse, Lake Drive, and Ridge Road neighborhoods, Carmel Police announced on Friday, Aug. 7.
According to police, seven vehicles across four streets were entered during the roughly 90-minute period. All seven vehicles had been left unlocked, the department said.

An off-duty NYPD officer was driving drunk and crashed his car with three young children inside, state police said.
Anthony N. Guglielmo, 38, of Staten Island, crashed on Route 23 in Greenport in Columbia County, with 7-, 6-, and 5-year-old children in the car on Wednesday, Aug. 5, New York State Police said.

UPDATE: Three teenagers are accused of forcibly stealing a victim's purse at a bank in Westchester County before fleeing to another city where they were caught, police said.
