19-Year-Old's Illegal Passing Caused Dump Truck Rollover On Highway In Region, Cops Say
A teen’s reckless driving caused a dump truck to roll over, sent two people to the hospital, and shut down a Hudson Valley highway for hours, police said.
The wreck happened in Ulster County just after noon Friday, Aug. 19, on Old Kings Highway in Saugerties, police said.
Investigators determined that 19-year-old Liam Browne, of Saugerties, was heading southbound in a Jeep Compass when he attempted to pass the dump truck in a no-passing zone near Dave Elliott Road.
At the time, the dump truck was pulling a trailer loaded with a skid steer and paving machine.

Thousands of customers in parts of the Hudson Valley lost power after a powerful storm moved through the region.
More than 21,000 customers were left in the dark when the potent storm brought strong wind gusts and heavy rain to central and northern Ulster County just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, according to Central Hudson.
Central Hudson said most of the outages were located in Kingston, Marbletown, Hurley, Esopus, and Ulster.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, about 10,000 customers remained without service, Central Hudson said.

Elizabeth R. Adinaro, a resident of Dutchess and Ulster counties, in Hopewell Junction and Kingston, died on Sunday, May 22.
The passionate animal lover, especially dogs, died following a fall at Bridal Veil Falls in the Platte Cove area of the Catskills while hiking, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Adinaro, the daughter of Edward and Janet (Engel) Adinaro, was born in White Plains.

A store employee was arrested for allegedly taking a picture under a female customer's dress as she shopped at a supermarket in the Hudson Valley.
The incident took place in Ulster County at the Hannaford Store in Highland at 3650 Route 9W on Saturday, May 21, according to police.
Marcello Richter, age 22, of Kingston, was arrested by the town of Lloyd police after the woman, who was shopping at the Hannaford Store, told the store manager he had taken a picture under her dress, said Chief James Janso, of the Lloyd Police.
