Daisy, a black Labrador retriever, an accelerant detection canine (ADC), sniffs out accelerants at various types of fire scenes.
The Pack 83 Cub Scouts spent some time with Daisy and learned that an ADC’s sense of smell is 100,000 more acute compared to humans. They also learned that it takes on average 30 minutes for an ADC to cover an average fire scene and that it can take humans days to do what a dog does in minutes.
Daisy also demonstrated sniffing out an accelerant that was hidden by her partner.
