Tenafly Dojo Students Head Toward World Tournament TENALFY, N.J. – Students from Tenafly Shukokai Karate are heading to the Kimura Shukokai International World Tournament Thursday, July 21 through Saturday, July 23 in Berlin. Nina Blake, Susan Klausner and Talin Tuestad have been training hard the past few months in order to compete in individual and Team Kata and Kumite events, while Sensei John Nicolai has the honor of serving as a head referee for all events. William Uelen, 83, Wyckoff Resident WYCKOFF, N.J. – William Uelen, of Wyckoff, died Tuesday, July 5. He was 83.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 825, Springfield. Most recently, he was employed by Tilcon NJ Inc., Prospect Park. He was the husband of Jerrilyn (Norman) Uelen; father of Matthew, Christopher, Jerrilyn and William; grandfather of Bailey, Emma, Christopher, Kieran and Ellis; and brother of Helena Dykstra. John Paul Sorci, Wappingers Falls Resident, 89 WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – John Paul Sorci, a native of Wappingers Falls, and more recently a resident of Palatka, Fla., died Saturday, July 2. He was 89. Born on July 30, 1926, to John and Josephine (Cuchelo) Sorci, he was looking forward to celebrating his 90th birthday with his family.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer during World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4364 in Florida, and also the board of directors for the battleship USS Tennessee annual reunion.
