Staffer Kicked Child At Facility In Rhinebeck, State Police Say

A staff member at a local childcare facility is facing charges after kicking a child, according to police.

New York State Police say that a male staff member at kicked a child victim while working at the Astor Home for Children in Rhinebeck.

Astor Home for Children is a facility sponsored by Catholic Charities in the Archdioceses of New York that provides mental health services to children on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The staff member, identified as 42-year-old Rey Ortiz of Kingston, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, on Thursday, April 4.

Ortiz was ticketed and is scheduled to appear at the village of Rhinebeck Court on Thursday, April 11.
