Robert J. Dancy of Worcester in Otsego County was charged at his hospital bed with felony vehicular manslaughter, and driving while intoxicated, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks.

Dancy has been recovering from injuries at Westchester Medical Center since the Friday, Dec. 7, crash, Hicks said.

The crash occurred when Dancy, driving a 1997 Ford Explorer south on Route 9G in Rhinebeck, drove over the center lane, striking a northbound 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Emily R. Wootton, 20, near Vlei Road, Hicks added.

Wootton was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

Dancy has been ordered to be sent to the Dutchess County Jail on a $200,000 bail or $400,000 bond.
