Residence Goes Up In Flames In Brewster A Hudson Valley residence was damaged in a blaze that took crews hours to put out.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Monday, April 16 around 2:40 a.m., when a residence in Brewster on Dingle Ridge Road went up in flames, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Responding fire crews from Lake Carmel, Brewster, Carmel, Croton Falls, and the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team were able to get the blaze under control after around two hours, firefighters said. The cause of the fire was not released.

ID Released For Victim Of Fatal House Fire In Area A grandfather who died after saving his two young grandchildren from a raging house fire has been identified by police. Putnam County resident Jintu Zheng, age 65, of Lake Carmel, was found inside the burning home on Scarsdale Road around 10 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, said the Kent Police. On arrival at the home, Brewster firefighters and Kent police went into the house to look for Zheng as flames engulfed the home, police said. Zheng was found by a back window. Mahopac Falls Firefighters Save Family's Home A Mahopac Falls family were able to stay in their home following a fire Tuesday thanks to the quick work of firefighters. The fire, at 85 Concord Drive, started around 1:30 p.m. on the outside of the home, said officials with the Mahopac Falls Fire Department. When Mahopac Falls firefighters arrived on scene they found low-hanging electrical wires as well as a downed tree.
