Duo Indicted For Murder Of Dad At Hotel In Hudson Valley
Two transient men have been indicted by a grand jury for the unprovoked shooting death of a father of three from the region.
Dutchess County District Attorney William Grady announced on Friday, Oct. 7, that a grand jury voted to indict Roy Johnson and Devin Taylor in the death of Long Island resident Paul Kutz, age 53, of East Northport, at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 2.
The indictment did away with the need for a preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for Friday, Grady said.

Two homeless men who are being held in the fatal hotel shooting of a father of a freshman student who was visiting Marist College in Poughkeepsie on Family Weekend were not placed at the hotel by the county.

Two men charged in the fatal hotel shooting of an area man who was visiting Marist College in Poughkeepsie on Family Weekend have previous criminal histories.
The two men, identified as Roy Johnson Jr., age 35, and Devin Taylor, age 26, have been charged in the death of Long Island resident Paul Kutz, age 53, of East Northport, at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Man From Area Who Worked As Marketing Director Dies At Age 41
A marketing director who grew up in the Hudson Valley has died at the age of 41.
Connecticut resident Thomas Tavino, of West Hartford, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 4, according to his obituary.
Tavino was born in Putnam County, in the town of Carmel, and was a graduate of Brewster High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Marist College and went on to work as senior director of marketing for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, his obituary said.
"He was an avid Mets fan, he had a passion for cooking, and enjoyed golf and blackjack," his obituary reads.

Queens native Kevin J. Breen, who grew up in Connecticut and lived in New York's Hudson Valley, died Tuesday, April 5.

A beloved Hudson Valley teacher recently passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60.
Orange County resident Kathy Butsko, of Newburgh, died on Monday, Nov. 29.
Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Butsko was a master's graduate of Marist College and was also an adjunct professor at Marist College and SUNY Orange; she was very passionate about education, her obituary said,
