Woman Busted For Dwai After Backing Up In Traffic In Area, Police Say A 28-year-old woman was busted for allegedly driving while high on drugs after backing up in traffic. Ulster County resident Shonta M. Drake, of Highland, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 11, after an Ulster County Sheriff's deputy, watched as she backed up in the northbound lane of Route 9W in the Town of Esopus, said Lt. Abram Markiewicz. When stopped, the officer felt Drake may have been under the influence of drugs and a drug recognition expert from the New York State Police was called to the scene. Pickup Truck Driver Charged With DWI After Fleeing Crash In Nyack, Police Say A pickup truck driver is facing DWI charges after police say he fled a crash in Nyack. Orangetown Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 9W and Main Street in Nyack on Sunday, April 7 around 10:30 p.m. Further investigation revealed that one of the drivers involved in the crash fled the scene, police say. Man Killed After Car Crashes Into House In Area Police Chase A 35-year-old man was killed while attempting to escape police after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into an unoccupied house.According to Middletown Police, the incident took place around 12:53 a.m. Thursday when an officer saw a black 2000 Lexus GS 300 commit a traffic infraction in the area of Cottage Street and Railroad Avenue, the department said in a release.
