I-84 Stop Leads To Drugs, Weapons Charges For Couple An I-84 traffic stop by New York State Police troopers led to the arrests of a couple who were allegedly in possession of drugs, paraphernalia and illegal weapons. Troopers stopped Wallkill resident Anthony Smieszek, 30, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, on I-84 in Montgomery when he committed a traffic violation. During the stop, police said that Smieszek was spotted by troopers attempting to hide an unknown object, prompting further investigation. Area Woman Who Faked Pregnancy Stole Thousands From Couple, Police Say A 33-year-old woman is behind bars after bilking a couple out of thousands of dollars by pretending to be pregnant with a child for them. Ashlee Richards of Walden was charged with felony grand larceny following a lengthy investigation by the New York State Police, said Troopers Steve Nevel. During the investigation, State Police BCI determined that Richards systematically conned an unsuspecting couple from Pennsylvania by pretending to be pregnant, Nevel said.
