29-Year-Old Killed After BMW Crashes Down Embankment In Area A 29-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash that happened in the area over the weekend. It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, in Orange County on Long Mountain Traffic Circle in the Town of Highland. A preliminary investigation by state police from the Haverstraw barracks revealed that Pierre D. Orange County Man Pleads Guilty To Possessing $17K In Heroin A 23-year-old man faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of $17,000 worth of heroin, according to  Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. Tysha Stevens of Newburgh pleaded guilty Wednesday to criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with his arrest on Feb. 11 for over seven ounces of heroin, the DA's office said. Stevens was nabbed by Town of Highlands police officers when they pulled over a speeding car in which he was a passenger. Highland Falls Man Sentenced To Five Years For Cocaine Possession A Highland Falls man was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday for possession of cocaine, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.  Rakeem Whatley, 42, was also sentenced to three years post-release supervision after pleading guilty in December to criminal possession of a controlled substance for having 3.7 grams of cocaine, said the DA's Office, At the time that Whatley pled guilty, he admitted that on March 31, 2017, he knowingly possessed the cocaine at his apartment at 467 Main Street, in the Village of Highland Falls, the DA's Office said.  The cocaine was dis…
