ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Rockland County The identity of a man struck and killed by a vehicle on a busy Hudson Valley roadway has been released by police. Rockland County resident Steven Semoff, age 64, was struck and killed at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6 in the area of North Little Tor Road and Tor Terrace in New City, said Detective Norm Peters of the Clarkstown Police. The first arriving officers found Semoff laying on the southbound shoulder of North Little Tor Road, Peters said. Semoff, a resident of New City, was pronounced dead at the scene, he added. Police Chief In Rockland County Announces He's Retiring After 32 years on the Clarkstown police force, and three-and-half years as chief, Chief Ray McCullagh has announced he is retiring. McCullagh's retirement is effective Friday, April 23.  He will be replaced by Captain Jeff Wanamaker, who will serve as interim chief until a new chief is named, said  Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann. McCullagh worked his way up through the ranks of the department from patrol officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, special operations sergeant, patrol lieutenant, to administrative lieutenant and was a member of the Rockland County Narcotics…

Clarkstown PD Officer Promoted To Captain Clarkstown Police Lt. Jeff Wanamaker was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Chief Raymond McCullagh.Wanamaker was officially promoted by the Town Board last week.  The department wished him well on Facebook saying the promotion was well-deserved. Attending the ceremony included Wanamaker's father, retired Orangetown Police Chief Homer Wanamaker.
