Man Enters Manslaughter Plea For Crash That Killed Rockland Man
A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the connection with a crash that killed a man in Sullivan County. James Greco, age 52, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, pled guilty on Wednesday, May 11, to felony vehicular manslaughter, said Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan. According to Galligan, Greco was driving a pickup truck on Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg on Friday, May 21, 2021, with oxycodone and fentanyl in his system, crossing a double yellow line and crashing into a vehicle driven by Jose Daniel Roldan-Roldan, age 29, of Spring Valley. Firefighters Rush From Rockland Brush Blaze To Mahwah House Fire
Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River and Suffern. No injuries were reported. Christmas Miracle: Dog Missing From Area Reunited With Family
A dog that went missing in March was reunited with her Wyckoff family on Christmas Eve. The same day that the Sterlacci family brought Bella home March 30, the pup charged into the neighbor's yard and ran. And ran. And ran. Bella was microchipped, but for whatever reason it wasn't registering, Felicia Sterlacci said. She was spotted in neighboring towns in April and May. But after a while, the sightings stopped. An 81-year-old member of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill received a careless driving summons after a ministry-owned car she was driving ripped a hole in the side of a Bergen County home on Christmas morning. Sister Margaret McPartland of Bardonia mistakenly put the car into reverse instead of drive, sending it careening across a Franklin Lakes street, over a lawn and through an attached garage of the single-family house, borough police Capt. The 14 German Shepherds abused by a Franklin Lakes woman are in need of forever homes. The dogs, currently in Paramus, were surrendered by 65-year-old Danielle Weitz who "got to walk away with a slap on the wrist" after pleading guilty Thursday to a single count of animal cruelty for severely damaging the animals. Investigation Reveals Official Horse Death Count In Orange County Barn Fire
The official death count in the early Saturday morning fire that turned deadly at a horse barn in Orange County has been disclosed. The remains of 24 horses were found following the blaze, according to an investigation by Orange County fire officials. Authorities Try To ID Victim In Overnight Route 287 Crash Near NY Border
MAHWAH, N.J. -- One person was killed when a Jeep plowed into a parked tractor-trailer overnight Sunday on Route 287 in Mahwah near the New York State line, authorities said. Authorities were trying to identify the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene after the fiery 2:30 a.m. crash on the northbound highway melted even the license plates of the Cherokee, which struck a parked rig hauling cases of water. Mahwah Fire Companies 1, 2 and 4 responded and extinguished the flames. Franklin Lakes provided mutual aid. New Jersey State Police were investigating.

A Wanaque father has been identified as the driver who was incinerated Thursday morning by a live utility wire in Franklin Lakes. Anthony Gonzalez, a father of three, died after driving around traffic cones and trying to move a downed wire in that was blocking Summit Avenue near the intersection of Route 208 just before 9 a.m., authorities said. OAKLAND, N.J. – A 56-year-old actor in local productions was struck and killed by a car in a freak accident in Oakland late Tuesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
