Hudson Valley Fire Leaves 24 Homeless, Injures 2 At least two residential buildings were destroyed during a two-alarm fire in the Hudson Valley that left 24 people homeless. The incident occurred in Orange County at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at 59 and 61 Carter St., in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, a spokesman for the Newburgh Fire Department, arriving units found the rear of 59 and 61 Carter Street fully involved with fire, which was spreading to the interior of the buildings.  Neppl said crews stretched handlines into the interior and began bringing the fire down and searching for hidden fire. Man Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Area, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was found dead inside a home following a residential structure fire. Orange County resident Roger A. Smith, age 60 of New Windsor was found around 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, following a house fire in New Windsor, officials said. According to New Windsor Police Chief Robert Doss, the fire started around 7 p.m. at 17 Shaw Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames and smoke, Doss said. Firefighting operations were started and firefighters made an interior entry to search the interior as well as fight the fire.  …

Man, Dog Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Area A man and one of his dogs died after a house fire broke out in Orange County. First responders were dispatched to a Brown’s Road home at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, when the fire started on the second floor of a home in the Coldenham section of Montgomery. Multiple fire agencies, led by the Coldenham Fire Department, responded to the blaze, which was knocked down within an hour. A tour of the house found a man - later identified as 43-year-old Michael O’Malley, in a second story bedroom.
