Photos: Residents Grin, Bear It As Cub Climbs Tree In Ramapo A 1-year-old black bear gave some Ramapo residents a scare on Tuesday as it made the rounds through a busy neighborhood bustling with kids. The Ramapo Police Department received multiple calls about a bear running around the area of Blauvelt Road on Tuesday, May 7. The 170-pound cub eventually made its way up a tree in the backyard of a local home. Officers from the police department contacted the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to assist.
