Ex-Chair Of Wallkill Fire District Sentenced For Grand Larceny

WALLKILL, N.Y. -- A former Wallkill fire district chair who stole more than $200,000 from the district was sentenced to two and a half to seven years in prison, according to Time Warner Cable News.

Michael Denardo, 39, will have to repay nearly $240,000 back to the district. Denardo used blank checks from the treasurer, had another board member sign them, then deposited them into his wife's bank account and subsequently submitted fake bills to the district, reported Time Warner Cable News. 

He pleaded guilty to the charges of grand larceny and criminal tax fraud in September, said Time Warner Cable News.
