Rockland Officials Discuss Concerns Over Drinking Water

HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Rockland officials will be holding an information session on May 11 in response to findings that chemicals at two Haverstaw reservoir locations were higher than federal standards, according to lodhud.com.

Trihalomethane, which is used to disinfect water using chlorine was present in excessive levels at the two spots, but according to the Rockland County Health Department wasn't an immediate health hazard, according to lodhud.com.

This has not quelled local concerns and as a result Rockland County Legislator Harriet Cornell, chairwoman of the Environmental Committee, will provide information about drinking water regulations at this information session at 6:30 p.m. at Legislative Chambers, Allison-Parris County Office Building, 11 New Hempstead Rd. in New City, according to lodhud.com.
