State Grants More Than $100K To Go Towards Dam Removal Study In Westchester To Help Fish With the help of a more than $100,000 grant, a nonprofit will team up with a Westchester County school district to look into removing a dam in order to benefit migratory fish.  The $109,984 grant will fund a study to look into the removal of the Blind Brook Dam in Rye, which will be completed by both the Save the Sound nonprofit and students from Rye High School, according to an announcement from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation from Monday, Oct. 31.  The removal of the dam could possibly reconnect 3.5 miles of migratory fish habitat for bo…

These Westchester Students Named Regeneron Semifinalists More than two dozen Hudson Valley high school students were among the 300 that were chosen as semifinalists at this year’s prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS). Racist Graffiti Found In Building At High School In Westchester Police have launched an investigation into alleged racist graffiti that was found scrubbed on a poster in a high school bathroom in Westchester. Rye Schools Superintendent Eric Byrne issued a notice to the community saying that a custodian found a poster in a second-floor bathroom at the high school that had been tagged with racially charged graffiti. 
“A custodian found that a poster in a second-floor bathroom at Rye High School announcing a Class of 2022 fundraiser at Chipotle restaurant had been defaced,” he said.
