Serious Crash Closes Route 9 Stretch In Hudson Valley (Developing) A stretch of Route 9 in the Hudson Valley is closed as the result of a serious crash. The crash, which happened on Friday, Jan. 17 around 1:45 p.m. in Putnam County, has left Route 9 closed in Garrison in the area of Old Highland Turnpike, the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services announced.  Police and first responders are operating in the area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The road will remain closed for an "extended period of time," officials said. This is a developing story. Road Reopens After 'Death Investigation' In Hudson Valley (Developing) A section of road in Putnam County has reopened following a police investigation into a death. Hughson Road in the town of Carmel was closed from Stoneleigh Avenue to Cross Road as authorities investigated a death, Carmel Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo said they were conducting a "death investigation" at the scene. There is no sign of criminal conduct and no public safety concern for those in the area, he added.  More information has not yet been released.  This is a developing story. The incident happened in Putnam County on Thursday, Jan. 16 around 10:20 a.m. on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley north of Exit 25, according to 511NY. Fires Go Up At Condo Complex, Home On Same Night In Hudson Valley Firefighters in a Putnam County town were kept busy with blazes at a condominium complex and residence on the same night. The fires happened in Carmel on Saturday night, Jan. 11, the town's fire department said on Tuesday, Jan. 14.  The first occurred at the Kings Grant Condominiums, where a cooking fire began in an appliance. Luckily, crews were able to contain the flames to the appliance and prevent further damage. The second incident happened at a home on Kelly Ridge Road, where a chimney fire began.
