Authorities are commending the extensive efforts of community members for their role in safely locating 18-year-old Archer Hands, who was reported missing on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Archer, a teen with autism, was last seen at around 1 p.m. on Wolfs Lane in Pelham and was found safe later that evening. In a statement released on Friday, Jan. 17, the Pelham Police Department highlighted the extensive efforts that led to the positive outcome, describing a coordinated search involving neighboring police departments, including Pelham Manor, New Rochelle, MTA, NYPD, and Westchester County Police. …

Two Connecticut men, including one who was the subject of an hours-long manhunt in Westchester, face charges after stealing a vehicle, a submachine gun, and a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
The incident began on Monday, April 24 around 1:30 p.m., when Westchester County Police were alerted that a stolen black Audi from Fairfield County was traveling near the border of Pelham and Mount Vernon, according to the department.

Although lightning is said to never strike the same place twice, evidently the same rule does not apply to lottery winnings, as two lucky Westchester residents bought $50,000 tickets on the same day.
The two third-prize-winning Powerball tickets were sold for the drawing on Monday, April 17, and had four matching numbers in addition to the Powerball number, New York Lottery announced.

Five men are charged with stealing more than $50,000 in catalytic converters from buses and vans across five months in Westchester County, officials said.
The indictments came after a year-long investigation into the thefts by 13 police departments in the county, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
