NY Native Marks Second Consecutive Birthday In Hamas Captivity For the second year in a row, Omer Neutra is spending his birthday in terrorist captivity. The New York native, from Long Island’s Plainview, was one of 251 hostages taken during the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Another 1,200 men, women, and children were killed in the attacks. At about 10:43 p.m. on Friday, July 20, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to 208 Old Route 22 in the Town of Amenia for a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a man in possession of a firearm.
