Interim Superintendent Appointed At School District In Westchester
A school district in Westchester has announced who will temporarily fill the shoes of its outgoing superintendent. Luis Rodriguez will serve as the Interim Superintendent for Yonkers Public Schools and replace outgoing Superintendent Edwin M. Quezada, who announced his retirement in April 2023. Robert E. Mulligan died on Monday, Jan. 31. He was born in Mount Vernon on February 3, 1929, son of Robert Mulligan and Ella Sullivan Mulligan. Robert graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Iona College. He received his Master of Arts degree in Education from Hunter College and took graduate courses at New York University and City College of New York. Colin Powell, the first Black secretary of state and a retired four-star general, has died at age 84 of COVID-19 related complications. "General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, passed away this morning due to complications from Covid 19," Powell's family wrote on Facebook on Monday morning, Oct. 18. It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Kenneth Mitchell Allen on April 14, 2020, a victim of COVID-19. Ken was born May 25, 1936 in the Bronx, the son of Nathan and Jeanette (Fisherman) Allen. He graduated from Morris High School and then entered the army. He served in Germany during the Korean war from 1954 to 1956 as a radio operator. He first planned on making it his career but quickly realized that it was not the career for him.
