Newly Signed NY Boat Safety Law Honors Memory Of 11-Year-Old Girl New legislation has been signed into law improving boating safety in honor of an 11-year-old girl who died in a 2005 accident. Brianna’s Law was signed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week, which will phase in requirements that all operators of watercraft must complete a state-approved boating safety course.
