The students are from Ursuline School of Brescia House in Bryanston. They are part of a group of 21 students from Africa participating in the Ursuline School's Global Education partnership program, which helps students visit Ursuline schools in the United States.
After arriving on campus, the students attended Sunday morning Mass at the Holy Family Chapel, where they were greeted warmly by the congregation and by the Rev. Joseph Flynn.
After the Mass, a brunch was held for the students. Their teachers and host families from the Ursuline School of New Rochelle, who had invited 10 of the Global Education students to stay at their homes also attended.
At the brunch, Kim Duncan, speaking on behalf of Brescia House School, thanked the College of New Rochelle and the host families. She cited their hospitality and their roles in the Global Education partnership between CNR and overseas Ursuline high schools.
As part of their visit, the students met with CNR President Judith Huntington, Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences Richard Thompson and other faculty members.
The students enjoyed their time on campus and attended classes, swam and played sports in the wellness center, toured student art exhibits and attended the drama program’s production of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream."
They also toured lower Manhattan by bus. The students had the opportunity walk down Fifth Avenue, see St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and have lunch at Planet Hollywood.
After this, the students will travel to St. Louis and Dallas before returning home.
