Monday, New Rochelle Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Osborne announced that he would recommend Bambrola at the meeting -- after going through a thorough interview process that began with a pool of 80 candidates.
"Mr. Bambrola has demonstrated that he has the qualities and capabilities to be a strong school leader," said Osborne.
"After having discussions regarding best instructional practices, maintaining and building the school's vision, and educational leadership practices, we are confident that he will carry on the 'best practices' that have been firmly established."
Bambrola had been Davis Elementary's assistant principal since last August. Former Principal Michael Galland is now at Columbus Elementary School.
"I am honored and grateful to have the opportunity to lead Davis School as principal," Bambrola said, when he heard of Osborne's decision.
"We have an amazingly talented staff, an engaged and supportive parent body, and students with infectious positive energy. In leading our school, it is my mission to inspire all members of the school community -- students, staff, families and the greater community -- towards the highest levels of excellence."
Bambrola received his advanced certificate in administration and supervision from Hunter College, a master's in childhood education grades 1-6 from New York University, a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Maryland, and an associate's degree from Hudson Valley Community College.
Osborne thanked the selections committee, made up of representatives from all groups of the school community, and to the many parents and staff members that gave input into the process.
