NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Reverend Brother Donald Paul Dwyer C.F.C. died Dec. 13. He was 84.

Br. Dwyer was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Brooklyn; son of Daniel and Marian C. Lynch Dwyer. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers June 30, 1947, taking his first vows Dec. 25, 1948, and final vows June 27, 1955. After attending Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, he received his BA in History from Iona College. He went on to receive an MA in History from the University of San Francisco, an MA in English from the University of Notre Dame and an MA in Theology from Maryknoll.

His ministry took him to many positions including Rice High School in the Bronx, Briscoe School in Kent, Wash., Cantwell High School in Montebello, Calif., Boys Central High School in Butte, Mont., O'Dea High School in Seattle, Wash., Essex Catholic High School in Newark, N.J., Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, Mass., Edmund Rice Hall, New Rochelle, as superior, Deputy Provincial, Eastern American Province, Iona College in New Rochelle, Councilor, Eastern American Province, Tertianship Renewal Program Rome, Italy, and St. Patrick's Provincialate Community, New Rochelle.

Br. Dwyer is survived by his sister, Virginia Solano. He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Danielle Sheahan, Joan Boyce, and Eileen Madden.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph Care Center, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Ave., New Rochelle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Br. Dwyer’s memory to St. Joseph's Residence.
