Jeffrey Sundwall, the owner of the ship that made landfall on a beach in Melbourne Beach on Tuesday, is currently in the Monroe County Jail in Florida, where he is facing numerous charges as a result of an incident on another boat, according to a lohud report.

According to the Miami Herald, Sundwall was arrested in March and accused of raping a 27-year-old woman on another boat in Key West. He is also facing dozens of child pornography and drug charges.

The boat which came ashore earlier this week has “New Rochelle, N.Y.” written under its name, “Cuki” was most recently registered in Key West, though it’s still not clear how the boat made its way to Melbourne Beach.

No timetable or cost estimate has been released for possibly removing the boat from the beach.
