Fishing Banned At New Rochelle Lakes After Herbicide Treatment

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - People should avoid fishing in or having contact with the water in two New Rochelle lakes that were treated with herbicide to combat plant overgrowth. 

People should avoid fishing in or having contact with the water of Beechmont and Glenwood Lakes until June 13, the city said.

The water in Beechmont and Glenwood Lakes may turn brown or white as the water vegetation dies back. The water should be safe for use again after June 13. 

Warning signs are posted at both lakes.
