Ella Albert, 86, Former New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Ella Rose Mardenborough Albert, formerly of New Rochelle, died peacefully at her home in Charlottesville, Va., on April 3. She was 86.

Albert was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Oct. 3, 1925 and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She attended the College of Mt. St. Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y. and served as supervisor of the Department of Social Services in Westchester County until her retirement.

Before moving to Virginia, Albert was a resident of New Rochelle and a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Albert; a son, Andre Albert, of Simsbury, Conn.; four daughters, Deborah Albert, of Sarasota, Fla., Sheila Strunk, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Laura Aurisy, of Charlottesville, and Marcia Ruggiero, of Pelham Manor; two siblings, Harold Mardenborough, of Coral Gables, Fla., and Aimee Mommsen, of Stratford, Conn.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
