New Rochelle Plans Two-Day Memorial Day Celebration

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The annual New Rochelle Memorial Day celebration will take place Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. The event will include patriotic ceremonies, music, food and military aircraft, which will land in the park.

There will be a memorial service and grave flag replacement at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 24, at Beechwood Cemetery.

On Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m., there will be a traditional service and wreath laying at Memorial Plaza. The New Rochelle High School will perform. From noon-5 p.m., there will be a veterans appreciation event, including a barbecue and music. Musical performers will include the 168th U.S. Army Band, The American Bombshells, The Allies, Third Stone, and Rebecca Haviland and the Whiskey Hearts.

Marine Corps aircraft, including the MV-22 Osprey, CH-47 Chinook, UH-1Y Huey and AH-1Z Cobra, will land in the park and the public can tour the aircraft and meet the crews.

The celebration is sponsored by the United Veterans Memorial & Patriotic Association of New Rochelle.
