NEW CANAAN, Conn. Silver Hill Hospital has announced the re-election of four board officers. Co-chairs Ward Cleary of Darien and Deann Murphy of New Rochelle, N.Y.; secretary Sperry DeCew of New Canaan; and treasurer Peter Orthwein of Greenwich will reclaim their roles.
From advanced medical degrees and law to economics, finance and fine arts, the depth and breadth of our board is a tremendous asset to us, said Silver Hill Hospital President and Medical Director Dr. Sigurd Ackerman.
Under their auspices, we have completely renovated our facilities and developed some of the most cutting-edge treatments in behavioral science. I look forward to many more productive years with them.
The 22-member board represents Westchester and Fairfield counties.
As an independent, non-profit, psychiatric hospital, we have the ability to provide some of the most advanced psychiatric treatments in the tri-state area, said co-chair Deann Murphy.
Co-Chair Ward Cleary praised the hospitals approach to individual patients.
We keep a high doctor to patient ratio, providing customized care for each individual, Cleary said. Our goal is to bring about healing, one patient at a time.
The Silver Hill Hospital was founded in 1931 on the banks of the Silvermine River in New Canaan. Every year, it treats more than 3,000 adolescent and adult patients for psychiatric and behavioral disorders such as bipolar disorder, disordered eating, schizophrenia and chronic pain when coupled with substance abuse.
