Man Charged After Attempting To Enter Elementary School In Fairfield County, Police Say A man from out of state has been charged after police said he attempted to enter an elementary school in Fairfield County. Just after 1 p.m. on Friday, May 27, school administrators in Stamford from Davenport Elementary School on Newfield Avenue noticed a suspicious man on the school campus, and immediately initiated a lockdown, according to Captain Diedrich Hohn, Commander of Special Investigations for the Stamford PD. ID Released For Long Island Woman Killed In Crash A Long Island woman who died a day after a two-vehicle crash in Fairfield County has been identified by police. Suffolk County resident Lauren Orlando, age 38, of East Islip, died on Sunday, Jan. 23, following a crash in Stamford with another vehicle, said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, of the Stamford Police Department. Man Dies After Kayak Capsizes On Long Island Sound A man who was rescued along with his wife after their kayak capsized on the Long Island Sound has died after being hospitalized. The unidentified man is a Danbury resident in his 20s, according to the Stamford Police.  The incident occurred around noon on Sunday, April 26 in the area of 160 Wallacks Drive, said the Stamford Fire Department Deputy Chief Eric Lorenz.  When EMS and firefighters arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call, they were able to locate the woman in the water on the east side of Wallacks Point about 20 feet from the rocks. The unidentified 32-year-old man died around 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Blackstones Steakhouse in downtown Stamford, said the Stamford Police.
