Suspect On Loose After Stealing Mercedes While Owner Pumps Gas In Westbury Police on Long Island are searching for a man who allegedly stole a 2022 Mercedes-Benz while the owner was pumping gas. The incident occurred in Westbury around 8:50 a.m., Sunday,  Jan. 8 at the Shell Station at 865 Carman Ave. According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 43-year-old man was fueling up his Mercedes when a  Black man who got out of a nearby Audi, jumped in the driver's seat and stole the car, ripping off the gas pump nozzle as he drove away. Westbury Man Attempted To Lure Girls Into His Car, Police Say A 46-year-old Westbury man has been charged after attempting to lure two 16-year-old girls into his car, Nassau County Police said. In the first incident, at around 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 9 in Westbury, the victim was followed by the man, identified as Selvin Ortiz, while walking home from Park Elementary School in Westbury, police said. While the victim was walking on Prospect Avenue at Kinkel Avenue, Ortiz was slowly following her and physically motioned for her to get into his vehicle, according to police.
