Fans who are vaccinated for COVID-19 will have a special section set aside for them during the Islanders’ playoff run as fans get ready to “Pack the Barn” for the last time. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday, May 10, that the Nassau Coliseum will have a fully vaccinated fan section for the Islanders’ playoff games which are anticipated to start on Wednesday, May 19. Nassau Coliseum will become the county’s next major vaccination site, County Executive Laura Curran has announced. Islanders fans will be welcome back to Nassau Coliseum for its final run of games there next month as New York continues recovering from the winter surge of COVID-19 across the country. Fire Breaks Out At Marriott Hotel Near Nassau Coliseum
A small fire at a Marriott Hotel on Long Island was contained to one room. The fire began around 4:47 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at the hotel, located near the Nassau Coliseum at 101 James Doolittle Blvd., in Uniondale, said the Nassau County Police. The "small" fire was contained to a room on the third floor and no one was injured, police said. Several people were displaced and were being helped by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Nassau Coliseum To Close Indefinitely
As construction of the New York Islander’s new arena at Belmont Park resumes, officials have shuttered the doors of their old (and would-be temporary) home at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Former Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who operates Nassau Coliseum through Onexim Sports and Entertainment, announced that the company will “shutter the venue indefinitely” as it seeks new investors for the building. Drug Sweep During Concert At Nassau Coliseum Nets 26 Arrests
Twenty-six people were arrested during the Dead and Company concert at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. The multiple arrests took place from Tuesday, Nov. 5 to Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Uniondale at the Coliseum and the surrounding area, said the Nassau County Police. During the drug sweep, three people were found to be in need of medical attention and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, police said.
