Two Hospitalized After Crash At Long Island Intersection Two people were hospitalized following a crash at a Long Island intersection. Authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Neighborhood Road and Havenwood Drive in Shirley at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, according to the Mastic Beach Fire Department. Authorities did not release details about the two people who were hospitalized. Mastic Beach Ambulance and the Suffolk County Police Department also responded to the scene, the fire department said.

Man Drowns At Long Island Beach Police are investigating the drowning death of a man that happened at a Long Island beach overnight. Two men who were swimming in the water at Smith Point Beach in Shirley were struck by a large wave just before 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, Suffolk County Police said.  One of the men made it back to the shore and the other was pulled out into the water. Members of the United States Coast Guard and members of the Mastic Beach Fire Department pulled the victim from the water. Long Island Jet Ski Rider Rescued After Hitting Sandbar A jet ski rider was rescued on Long Island after their vehicle hit a sandbar. The rescue took place around 11:13 a.m., Sunday, June 6, when South Country Ambulance was requested as mutual aid to the Mastic Beach Fire Department for a water rescue in New Old Inlet in Bellport Bay.  The rider had been thrown from the front of the jet ski after hitting the sandbar, suffering a broken ankle, said the South County Ambulance.
