19 DWI Arrests Made On Long Island Over Labor Day Weekend, 2 For Leandra's Law According to police, over a dozen drunk drivers were taken off Long Island roads over the holiday weekend, two violating Leandra Law, while hundreds more were given tickets. From Friday, Sept. 1 to Monday, Sept. 4, 19 intoxicated drivers on Long Island were removed from the road and given tickets, the New York State Police announced. Out of the 19 people, two were given an additional felony charge for driving drunk with a child under the age of 16 in the backseat, violating Leandra Law. Nassau Woman Stopped On Roadway Found Drunk With Kids In Car, Police Say A 40-year-old woman was arrested on Long Island for allegedly driving while intoxicated with two children in the vehicle. Jacqueline Lopez, of Elmont, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, according to the Nassau County Police Department. NCPD said officers saw a 2010 gray Audi stopped in the left lane of the Hempstead Turnpike near Litchfield Avenue in Elmont. The Audi was facing west and impeding traffic. Santos Romero, 30, of Hempstead, was operating a 2011 Honda when she stopped Monday, Oct. 5 at 12:15 a.m. in Hempstead.on Centre Street, according to Nassau County Police. A subsequent investigation was conducted and Romero was found to be driving in an intoxicated condition.was placed under arrest without incident, police said. Nassau County Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Tuxedo Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, where there was a report of a driver who had crashed into a utility pole. It happened just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 in Freeport According to Nassau County Police, Nadera Beria, 40, of Freeport, was operating a 2019 Kia SUV and struck a parked vehicle on North Ocean Avenue.
