Tractor-Trailer Spills Fuel Onto Long Island Road, Prompting Closure A Long Island road was temporarily closed after a tractor-trailer struck a manhole cover and ruptured its fuel tank. The incident happened at about 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, in Hampton Bays, the Southampton Town Police Department reported. A tractor-trailer was backing into a private driveway on Canoe Place Road near Montauk Highway when it struck the manhole cover, causing fuel to leak onto the roadway and driveway. Multiple State Agencies Sent To Scene Of Rockville Centre Tanker Explosion, Hochul Says Following a gasoline tanker crash and explosion on Long Island, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed multiple state agencies to the area to help with environmental issues caused by the crash.
