Nassau County Now Has 41 Covid-19 Cases, With 328 In NY State Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone declared a state of emergency after 14 new patients tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the county’s total to 20 and the total to 61 on Long Island. Statewide, as of Thursday, March 12, there were 328 confirmed cases of coronavirus in New York. In Suffolk, health officials confirmed that eight of the cases were in the Town of Southold, four in Brookhaven, two in Smithtown and one each in Islip and Huntington.  At least 10 of those have been hospitalized and quarantined, while another 76 people are under precautionary quarantine. Seventh Vaping-Related Death Reported As NY Becomes Second State To Ban Flavored E-Cigarettes As a seventh vaping-related death has been confirmed, New York has now become the second state to ban flavored e-cigarettes. Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an "emergency executive action" on Sunday, Sept. 15, that bans the sale of flavored e-cigarettes in the state. It went into effect Tuesday, Sept. 17. The order will advance legislation aiming to eliminate "deceptive marketing practices of e-cigarettes to underage users and raises the purchasing age of e-cigarettes from 18 to 21 years old," Cuomo's office said in a statement.
