The incident happened at around 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, on I-495 near Jericho. Man Killed In Hit-Run Long Island Expressway Crash Police are attempting to locate the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on the Long Island Expressway The man walking on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the Expressway was struck at approximately 5:15 a.m. near exit 19 in Elmhurst, Queens, on Monday, Sept. 28. Police said that the driver proceeded to flee the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Expressway was temporarily closed at Queens Boulevard for hours as detectives investigated the crash.
