Woman Critically Injured After Being Struck By Van In Crosswalk Of Inwood Roadway

A Long Island woman was seriously injured after being hit by an SUV while in a crosswalk, according to authorities.

The crash took place in Inwood around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, the 68-year-old woman was walking east on Bayview Avenue when she was struck in the crosswalk at Sheridan Boulevard by a man, age 73, driving a 2008 Toyota Sienna traveling southbound.

The woman was transported to a local area hospital by helicopter and is listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

The male driver remained at the scene.

The woman's name has not been released by authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.
