Body Washes Ashore On Long Island Beach

Police detectives are investigating a body that had washed ashore on a Long Island beach.

The body was found around 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach, said the Suffolk County Police.

Police did not release additional information, including the gender and age of the person.

The cause of death is under investigation.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the U.S. Coast Guard reported, a 16-year-old teen boy was swept into the water near the Moriches Inlet while fishing near Dune Road, officials did not say if the cases were related.

The Coast Guard called off the search for the teen on Saturday, Nov. 7.
