The investigation into a fatal overdose on Long Island is in custody led to the arrest of a man, police said.

As part of “Operation Natalie” - the code name for the Nassau County Police Department’s “war against opioids” - detectives were investigating a fatal overdose in Plainview, which led to the arrest of Amityville resident Shaquille Ricks, 25.

According to police, at the time of his arrest, Ricks was in possession of acetaminophen, hydrocodone, and marijuana.

Ricks was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, Oct. 17.

In a statement, officials said that “the Nassau County Police Department reminds the public that as part of Operation Natalie and our Multi Prong Approach of Education, Awareness, Enforcement, Treatment, Diversion and After Care Visits, we will be continuing with our zero-tolerance response to any and all illegal drug activity within the County."
