A lucky Long Islander is tens of thousands of dollars richer after a local shop sold a winning lottery ticket.

A winning Take 5 ticket worth over $35,000, was sold in Hewlett, lottery officials said.

A card shop in Hewlett sold a prize-winning Take 5 lottery ticket for the Saturday, May 18 drawing, New York Lottery officials announced.

The ticket, worth $35,550.50, was purchased at Meet Cards & Gifts, located at 1753 Peninsula Boulevard. It was part of the Take 5 evening drawing.

Winning Take 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one to 39. Drawings are televised twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Prizes can be claimed up to one year from the drawing date.
