Former HS Baseball Coach Who Led Team To State Championship Dies: From Northern Westchester A former high school varsity baseball coach from Northern Westchester who led his team to a state championship is being remembered for his ability to connect with his players.  Amleto “Mel” Giarolo of Croton-on-Hudson died on Saturday, April 21 at the age of 88 after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and renal cancer, according to his obituary.  Born in Tarrytown in 1934, Giarolo spent his life following his passion for the game of baseball.
